BEAUMONT – The surviving spouse and children of a late Texas man allege a Jefferson County doctor was negligent in his care.
Shirley Stout, individually and as personal representative of the estate of Raymond Stout, et al. filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the Jefferson County District Court against Southeast Texas Medical Associates LLP and Majaz Khan, DO alleging wrongful death.
According to the complaint, Raymond Stout sought treatment from Khan at an appointment on Nov. 3, 2015, believing he had pneumonia. The suit states Khan told Stout he did not have pneumonia and sent him home with medication to treat his cough. Stout was later taken to a Beaumont hospital, was diagnosed with pneumonia and his health deteriorated while there, the suit states. He died on Nov. 15, 2015, due to respiratory failure and pneumonia, the suit states.
The plaintiff holds Southeast Texas Medical Associates LLP and Khan responsible because Khan allegedly breached the standard of care.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury, interest, costs and all other and further relief that they may show themselves justly entitled. They are represented by Craig Lewis and Aaron J. Arenas of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
