Diversified Consultants Inc. alleged to have harassed woman with calls over account belonging to estranged husband

Phone 01

MARSHALL – A Marshall consumer claims a collection agency harassed her with collection calls for an alleged debt purported owed by her estranged husband.

Melissa Ann Oney filed a complaint on Jan. 24 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Diversified Consultants Inc. alleging that the collection agency violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in the fall of 2017, she began receiving calls to her cellular phone from defendant demanding payment of an alleged debt owned by her estranged husband on a Dish Network account.

She alleges she never provided her number to the defendant and that she was not associated with the Dish Network account in any way.

The plaintiff holds Diversified Consultants Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly made calls to her cellular phone multiple times during the same day and even after being told to stop calling her and persisted in pressuring her into paying her former husband's alleged debt via her debit card.

The plaintiff seeks actual and punitive damages, costs and reasonable attorney fees and such other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by Nathan C. Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
