HOUSTON – A woman has filed a suit against two health care providers over the alleged "inexcusable neglect" of her late husband.
Carolyn West, individually and on behalf of the estate of Robert L. West, deceased filed a complaint on Feb. 5 in the Harris County District Court against Methodist Health Centers and Triumph Rehabilitation Hospital of Northeast Houston LLC alleging medical negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff's late husband, Robert L. West, was hospitalized in February 2016 at Houston Methodist West Hospital because of kidney problems. The suit states while there, he developed a pressure ulcer on his sacrum and after he was transferred to Kindred Rehabilitation Hospital, staff there provided minimal monitoring.
The plaintiff alleges Robert West's pressure ulcer developed into a severe, stage IV wound and became infected. The suit states he died Nov. 14, 2016, from complications due to the ulcer.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly monitor decedent's known physical condition and failed to create, implement and monitor an appropriate care plan.
The plaintiff seeks all damages as allowed by law, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and such other lawful and equitable relief.
