GALVESTON – A Galveston County woman alleges she slipped and fell because of a wet floor at a Webster business.

Kersten Conway filed a complaint on Feb. 6 in the Galveston County District Court against Academy LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 19, 2017, she was shopping at defendant's Academy Sports and Outdoors retail store in Webster when she slipped in a large puddle of water on the tile floor and fell.

She alleges she sustained injuries to her neck, right elbow and right wrist, and suffered abrasions and swelling.

The plaintiff holds Academy LTD responsible because the defendant's employees allegedly failed to use caution signs when mopping the floor.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and all other relief to she is entitled. She is represented by Julia C. Hatcher of Julia C. Hatcher Attorney at Law in Galveston.
