Dishwasher alleges Fu Fu Cafe Inc. failed to pay a minimum wage, overtime pay

HOUSTON – A Houston cafe is alleged to have failed to pay a dishwasher a minimum wage.

Alonzo Quema, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Fu Fu Cafe Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for the defendant as a dishwasher at its Houston restaurant. He alleges the defendant paid him and other class members in cash and did not record the hours he worked. He alleges he worked six days a week and worked 57 hours or more per week.

The plaintiff holds Fu Fu Cafe Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the minimum mandatory wage and overtime compensation as required by the FLSA.

The plaintiff seeks all unpaid minimum wages and overtime pay, liquidated damages, post-judgment interest, attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses and such other and further relief. He is represented by David I. Mouton and Matthew S. Parmet of Bruckner Burch PLLC in Houston.
