Law money 07

HOUSTON – A former employee of a pet care company claims he is owed unpaid wages.

Johnell Watkins filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Petbox Services LLC and Edward Salazar alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was employed the defendants between August 2016 and April 26, 2017, as a groomer and caretaker. He alleges he regularly worked in excess of 40 hours per week and on some occasions spent the night at defendant's property without receiving overtime premiums for all hours worked over 40 hours per workweek.

The plaintiff holds Petbox Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly did not make a good faith effort to comply with the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all unpaid minimum wages, overtime compensation and liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, out-of-pocket expenses and costs and such other just and equitable relief. He is represented by Josef F. Buenker and Vijay A. Pattisapu of The Buenker Law Firm in Houston.
