HOUSTON – A former employee of a Houston company alleges that he was not paid the appropriate rate for overtime work.
Gustavo Gonzalez, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint on March 1 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Gulf Coast Pavers Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during his employment with the defendant from August 2016 to Feb. 9, 2018, he regularly worked more than 40 hours per week. He alleges he was paid on a day-rate basis and not paid an overtime premium.
The plaintiff holds Gulf Coast Pavers Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the required overtime premium to him for working more than 40 hours per week.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, prejudgment interest, attorney’s fees and such other just and equitable relief. He is represented by Josef F. Buenker and Vijay Pattisapu of The Buenker Law Firm in Houston.
