HOUSTON – A Hispanic woman alleges she was subjected to discriminatory treatment while working for an energy company.
Carmen Garrett filed a complaint on March 7 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Enbridge Energy Co. alleging national origin, race and gender discrimination and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was placed to work at Spectra Energy Corp. in December 2014 as a business analyst; Spectra was later purchased by the defendant in 2017. She alleges she was discriminated against because of her gender and Puerto Rican national origin in terms of compensation, conditions and privileges of her employment by the defendant. The suit states she was terminated in April 2015.
The plaintiff holds Enbridge Energy Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against her and retaliated against her because of her complaints regarding the treatment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory, punitive and liquidated damages; pre- and post-judgment interest; attorneys’ fees; costs and such other and further relief. She is represented by Alfonso Kennard Jr. of Kennard Richard PC in Houston.
