HOUSTON – A purported industrial accident in La Porte last year has prompted a carpenter from Humble to pursue legal action, recent Harris County District Court records show.

Michael Letroise filed a lawsuit against Total Petrochemical & Refining USA, Inc. on Mar. 15, alleging a transformer at the defendant’s facility exploded and injured him as he walked by it on the way to his job site last June 27.

Letroise, who was at the aforementioned facility on assignment for Austin Industrial, claims the explosion occurred without warning.

“The force of the explosion knocked Mr. Letroise from his feet and knocked him out,” the suit says. “He woke up several hours later at a local hospital.”

The plaintiff adds that he has not been able to return to work since the incident in question.

Court documents assert the transformer was not part of Letroise’s nor his employer’s responsibilities.

Consequently, the complainant seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Davis Haines and Megan C. Hartman of Haines Law, P.C. in Humble.
