HOUSTON – A Houston couple is seeking damages from the manufacturers of a faucet over allegations the product's defective designed caused it to fail and damage their home.

Veola Malone and Willie Malone filed a complaint on March 16 in the Harris County District Court against Lota USA LLC and Xiamen Lota International Co. LTD alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs hired a plumber to install a Lota Toque II kitchen faucet in their home. They allege that on April 21, 2016, the faucet failed and caused a water leak that damaged their home. They allege the faucet was inspected and it was determined that defects in design and manufacture caused it to fail.

The plaintiffs hold Lota USA LLC and Xiamen Lota International Co. LTD responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to design and manufacture kitchen faucet that could withstand household water pressure, failed to provide warnings of the hazards associated with their product and denied responsibility for plaintiffs' loss.

The plaintiffs seek all damages as allowed by law, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other lawful and equitable relief. They are represented by Ryan K. Haun and D. Douglas Mena of Haun Mena PLLC in Houston.
