TYLER – An assistance specialist has filed a class-action lawsuit against his employer over allegations he is owed unpaid wages.

Steven Mindt, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint on March 27 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against the Texas Rural Water Association alleging that the employer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2017, he regularly worked an approximate average of 44.3 hours a week for defendant without receiving overtime for the time worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff holds Texas Rural Water Association responsible because the defendants allegedly intentionally failed to compensate him at least the federal minimum wage for all compensable hours worked or overtime compensation .

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order certifying this case as a collective action, award for unpaid wages, liquidated damages, legal fees, costs and expenses and all other just and appropriate relief. He is represented by Timothy Micah Dortch and Maryssa J. Simpson of Potts Law Firm LLP in Dallas and Tom Carse of Carse Law Firm in Dallas.
