HOUSTON – A Hispanic man alleges that he was discriminated against because of his race by his employer and a supervisor created a hostile work environment.

John Pacheco filed a complaint on March 27 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against United Airlines alleging that the employer violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Texas Labor Code.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began his employment with the defendant in 1986 and beginning in December 2012, began having employment issues with his supervisor Kevin Ross, a Caucasian and the managing director of charters.

In October 2017, he alleges he was forced to accept a lower-paying position and to relocate to Denver, Colorado to escape the discrimination and retaliation from Ross. He alleges the new position resulted in a salary reduction of $20,000 dollars a year.

The plaintiff holds United Airlines responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against him because of his race and retaliated against him for filing a complaint of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages to which he may be entitled, attorneys’ fees, costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by Alfonso Kennard Jr. of Kennard Richard PC in Houston.
