BEAUMONT – A Beaumont woman is seeking damages from a Hialeah, Florida man and his employer after the driver allegedly lost control on Interstate 10 and caused damage to her vehicle.

Melissa Carmon filed a complaint on March 7 in the Jefferson County District Court against Leon Mario Arquimedes and Crest Transport Systems Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 25, 2016, she was traveling on I-10 in Beaumont when Arquimedes, who was employed by Crest, failed to control his speed in a curve, lost control and struck a concrete median wall. The suit states part of the defendants' trailer went into the opposite lanes of traffic, lost its load and struck the plaintiff's vehicle.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendant Arquimedes allegedly failed to control the speed of the vehicle and failed to maintain a single lane of traffic.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief in an amount of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million together with all legal interest, including prejudgment interest, costs of suit, and for such other relief to which may be justly entitled. She is represented by Jonathan C. Juhan and J.J. Bragg in Beaumont.
