Woman alleges shelf fell on her at Beaumont Family Dollar, caused injuries

BEAUMONT – A shopper at a Beaumont Family Dollar store alleges that a shelf fell on her and caused injuries.

Juanisha Artmore filed a complaint on March 19 in the Jefferson County District Court against Family Dollar Stores of Texas LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 9, 2016, she was shopping together with her family at a Family Dollar store in Beaumont. As the plaintiff was moving through an aisle, the suit states a shelf fell and crashed into her back and forced her into another shelf. She alleges the incident caused her physical pain and mental anguish.

The plaintiff holds Family Dollar Stores of Texas LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain the premises in a safe condition and failed to correct the condition.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of no more than $75,000, exclusive of interest and costs. She is represented by Ryan M. Schaper of Schaper Law Firm PLLC in Beaumont.
