HOUSTON – A Harris County woman is seeking damages from an energy company after a gas leak caused an explosion and the destruction of her house.

Annie Gray filed a complaint on May 15 in the Harris County District Court against Centerpoint Energy Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 1, 2016, her residence was totally destroyed when a natural gas leak caused an explosion. The suit states the plaintiff and other occupants of the house suffered severe burns, medical expenses, pain and suffering, disfigurement and physical impairment as a result of the explosion.

The plaintiff holds Centerpoint Energy Inc. responsible because she claims the defendant's gross negligence caused the incident.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, costs of court, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Elijah Gooden III of The Law Office Elijah Gooden III in Houston.
