HOUSTON – Last Saturday’s explosion at a refinery in Pasadena has yielded a lawsuit, recent Harris County District Court records indicate.

In a five-page complaint against Force Corp.; Industrial Solutions, Inc.; and Kuraray America filed on May 21 in the Harris County 61st District Court, Eduardo Rodriguez claims he was among the more than 20 injured in the incident at the Kuraray facility.

The original petition asserts an overpressurization of piping in the plant caused an explosion that “resulted in a fireball shooting into the sky,” stating the impact forced Rodriguez to jump down from a 25-ft. high scaffold.

The plaintiff reportedly sustained signification burns as a result of the subject event.

Kuraray is faulted for being the location of the aforementioned explosion. Industrial Services purportedly had personnel working near where the blast occurred while Force Corp. “was performing welding and pipefitting operations on the equipment” that led to the incident.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks more than $1 million plus a jury trial.

Anthony G. Buzbee and Christopher J. Leavitt of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston are representing Rodriguez.
