HOUSTON – A Mississippi man claims he sustained burns while handling caustic at a Houston area plant more than a year ago.

Joseph Thompson filed a lawsuit against Performance Contractors, Inc. on May 17 in the Harris County 61st District Court, alleging an employee of the defendant neglected to supervise him as he added caustic to a vat of acid at the ExxonMobil chemical facility on Nov. 17, 2016.

“As he was pouring caustic into the vat, the acid erupted and splashed onto the plaintiff,” court papers say.

Thompson alleges he suffered burns on his neck, shoulder, and face.

Consequently, he seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by M. Paul Skabranek and Betty Feng of the law firm Pierce Skabranek PLLC in Houston.
