MG Foods alleged to have terminated office manager in retaliation

MARSHALL – A Jefferson woman alleges her former Longview employer retaliated against her and terminated her for reporting wage violations.

Brandi Ellis filed a complaint on May 18 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against MG Foods of Texas Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant as an office manager at its Longview location. She alleges she noticed that the pay of minority production employees were being shorted by the company and reported the violations to the plant manager. She alleges she was later terminated in retaliation.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, liquidated damages, attorneys’ fees, costs and such other and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by William S. Hommel Jr. of Hommel Law Firm in Tyler.
