BROWNSVILLE – A Houston consumer alleges that a debt collector made repeated, harassing phone calls to her number.

Minnie J. Taylor filed a complaint on May 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas against Premiere Credit of North America LLC alleging that the debt collection company violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in spring 2017 through July 2017, she received continuous and repeated calls to her cellular telephone from defendant attempting to collect an alleged medical debt. She alleges she revoked her consent for the defendant to contact her but it continued to do so.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000, actual damages, attorneys’ fees, witness fees, court costs and litigation expenses and any other relief deemed appropriate. She is represented by Amy L. Bennecoff Ginsburg of Kimmel & Silverman PC in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
