HOUSTON – A Brazoria County woman alleges jewelry on a department store's floor caused her to fall.
Debra Ann Palmer filed a complaint on May 22 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Kohl's Department Stores Inc. and Kohl's Illinois Inc. alleging negligence and premises liability.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 3, 2017, she entered defendants' Kohl's department store in Missouri City to purchase personal items when she slipped and fell on an earring that was on the floor. She alleges she sustained significant injuries and was caused to suffer medical-related expenses, disfigurement, pain and suffering and loss of earning capacity in the past and in the future.
The plaintiff holds Kohl's Department Stores Inc. and Kohl's Illinois Inc. responsible because the defendants' employees allegedly permitted the jewelry to remain on the floor and failed to provide warning.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to recover all damages she sustained, expenses and court costs. She is represented by Phillip A. Pfeifer of Phillip A. Pfeifer PC in Houston.
