HOUSTON – A widow and her two children allege the death of their husband and father was a result of not receiving prompt medical treatment while stationed offshore on a vessel owned by Harris County companies.

Cynthia Conner, individually and as personal representative of the estate of Gary Conner, et al. filed a complaint on May 24 in the Harris County District Court against Rowan Cos. Inc., et al. citing the Jones Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 6, 2015, Gary Conner was employed by defendants working aboard the Rowan Gorilla IV when he sustained a treatable but emergency health problem. The suit states it took several hours to get Gary Conner medical attention and that he died as a result.

The plaintiffs hold Rowan Cos. Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly train and supervise their crew, failed to provide adequate safety equipment and failed to provide a safe work environment.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of no less than $1 million and all other and further relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by Jason A. Itkin, Cory D. Itkin, Ryan MacLeod and Jacob Karam of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
