Man seeks $2M from St. Hope Foundation over dental work, says bill caused heart attack

Medical malpractice 06

HOUSTON – A Houston man alleges he was incorrectly informed by a medical facility that his insurance would cover the cost of dental work.

Alex Melvin Wade Jr. filed a complaint on May 25 in the Harris County District Court against St. Hope Foundation and its unknown employees alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was misled by the defendant to believe that his insurance company would cover the cost of dentures and bridges. He alleges his teeth were extracted and then he learned in March that his insurer would not pay for the dentures. He alleges the stress caused by the incorrect information caused him to suffer a heart attack.

The plaintiff holds St. Hope Foundation and its unknown employees responsible because the defendants allegedly subjected him to unnecessary dental procedures and deliberately concealed the true fact that there was no denture coverage.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages of more than $1 million, punitive damages of not less than $1 million, attorney's fees of $25,000, costs of this action and such other and further relief as may be just and proper. He is representing himself.
