Polsinelli PC issued the following announcement on Sept. 6.

Leane K. Capps, a shareholder in Polsinelli’s Dallas office, has been selected as a Top 50 Women Lawyers Award winner by the Texas Diversity Council as part of the organization’s annual Legal Diversity Week honors. According to the Council, Capps received the award in recognition of her leadership excellence, commitment to fairness, professional accomplishments and dedication to helping other female attorneys succeed.

Winners will be honored at the Council’s second annual Legal Diversity Week Top 50 Women Lawyers Breakfast on Sept. 25 in Dallas. The Legal Diversity Week awards were established by the Texas Diversity Council to honor lawyers for their experience, leadership and commitment to diversity.

“Leane has always been a staunch supporter and promoter of other female lawyers, and this honor is well-deserved,” said Jon Henderson, managing partner of Polsinelli’s Dallas office and chair of the firm’s national Corporate and Transactional Practice Group. “Her professional excellence and clear dedication to her clients’ most critical, complex litigation matters have helped her break down barriers and establish a strong reputation for integrity and talent, including in industries where women are typically underrepresented.”

A member of Polsinelli’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group, Capps represents clients in a wide variety of industries including sports, aviation and technology. She is a member of the firm’s Sports Law Group and serves as a practice leader for the firm’s Aviation Group. Capps is also board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Among other prominent representations, she is the lead trial counsel for the Big 12 Conference and Conference USA and currently represents them in significant antitrust and class action litigation.

“Always going above and beyond for her clients, Leane consistently delivers sophisticated solutions in high-stakes litigation,” said Stacy Carpenter, chair of the firm’s national Commercial Litigation Practice Group and shareholder in Polsinelli’s Denver office. “I’m continually impressed by her work ethic and drive, but even more, I admire her willingness and enthusiasm for helping advance the careers of younger female attorneys as well as her peers.”

Throughout her career, Capps has been a mentor to younger attorneys and helped raise women’s profiles in the law. She was previously recognized by the Texas Diversity Council in 2016 as one of Texas’ Most Powerful & Influential Women and, earlier this year, was selected as a Dallas Business Journal Women in Business honoree. She has also been repeatedly included on the Best Lawyers in America® and Texas Super Lawyers lists for her commercial litigation and appellate expertise, and is a Senior Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America.

Polsinelli’s Texas offices, with more than 70 professionals in Dallas and Houston, have grown by tenfold in less than a decade. This robust local presence provides a gateway to a national, full-service law firm that delivers the highest caliber of legal work and client service, infused with deeply held Midwestern values. In Texas, Polsinelli is strongly committed to supporting businesses ranging from entrepreneurial, innovative start-up companies to middle-market leaders across a wide range of industry sectors, and the firm is significantly involved in many of the region’s key civic and community service groups.
