Eckert Seamans is pleased to welcome associates Nicole J. Cocozza, Amanda C. Scafidi, and Carson M. Shea to the firm’s Boston office and Litigation Division.
NICOLE J. COCOZZA
Cocozza concentrates her practice on commercial litigation, business litigation, financial services law, education law, and other areas of complex civil litigation. Prior to joining Eckert Seamans, she practiced with a regional law firm where she specialized in a variety of complex litigation matters, primarily related to the defense of health care providers. During that time, she gained valuable experience in all phases of litigation. She represents clients in Massachusetts state courts, arbitrations, and mediations.
Cocozza earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 2015 and her B.A., summa cum laude, from St. John’s University in 2012. While in law school, Nicole received a certificate in the Intellectual Property Law Concentration with Distinction. She served as a student attorney in the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Clinic, where she defended the intellectual property rights of small businesses and start-ups against nationally known brands. She also served as a note editor on the Journal of High Technology Law.
AMANDA C. SCAFIDI
Scafidi focuses her practice on litigation matters including product liability and mass tort litigation. Prior to and throughout law school, Scafidi worked full-time as a paralegal for Eckert Seamans, primarily in the area of toxic tort litigation, where she had the opportunity to assist in the representation of defendants in the asbestos litigation on both a local and national level.
Scafidi earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 2018 and her B.S. from Suffolk University in 2010. In her final year of law school, she practiced as a certified student attorney under SJC Rule 3:03. As a member of the Family Advocacy Clinic at Suffolk Law she represented numerous clients in various domestic relations matters. She also spent time volunteering at the Court Services Center at the Suffolk Probate and Family Court, where she provided legal advice to pro se litigants on various domestic relations and guardianship matters.
CARSON M. SHEA
Shea focuses his practice in commercial litigation in state and federal courts. He also advises and defends clients in employment and product liability matters.
Prior to joining Eckert Seamans, Carson practiced with a Boston firm where he defended clients in product liability and commercial litigation cases throughout New England. He also served as a judicial law clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court.
Shea earned his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 2015 and his B.A., cum laude, from Stonehill College in 2012. During law school, Carson was a senior staff editor of the Northeastern University Law Journal and served as a judicial intern to Chief Justice Scheier of the Massachusetts Land Court.
