DLA PIPER: Daniel Prieto joins DLA Piper's Restructuring practice in Dallas

Partnership

DLA Piper issued the following announcement on Feb. 1.

DLA Piper announced today that Daniel Prieto has joined the firm's Restructuring practice as a partner in Dallas.

Prieto focuses his practice on representing high-profile companies in chapter 11 reorganizations and has assisted numerous clients in achieving permanent resolutions of mass asbestos tort liabilities through section 524(g) plans of reorganization. He also represents clients in out-of-court restructurings and distressed M&A transactions.

"Dan has a proven history of handling successful chapter 11 reorganizations as well as extensive experience with mass tort liability cases, both of which will be very complementary to our practice and strategic focus," said Richard Chesley, global co-chair of DLA Piper's Restructuring practice. "He will be a valuable addition to the team in Texas and nationally, and we are pleased to welcome him to the firm."

"With the addition of Dan, we continue to strengthen our capabilities throughout the region," said Marc Katz, managing partner of the firm's Dallas office. "Our strategic growth strategy is focused on bringing on high-achieving lawyers whose skills and experience bring value to our clients, and Dan and his practice fit that goal perfectly."

Prieto is the latest partner to join the Dallas office, which has also recently added Corporate partner Richard Cheng; Litigation partners Daniel Tobey, Jason Lewis, Jason Hopkins, Rob Hoffman, Michael Moore and Matthew Nickel; and Employment partners Marc Katz and Isabel Crosby. This is in addition to the firm's expansion in Austin, which has included Corporate partners David Parrish, Nicole Brennig, Elise Green, Philip Svahn, Sara Stinnett and Richard Cardillo. These additions are part of a significant expansion of DLA Piper's presence in Texas in the last year, bringing the firm from approximately 60 lawyers to more than 100 currently.

Prieto, who joins from Jones Day, received his J.D. from Northwestern Law School and his B.S. from Vanderbilt University.
