DLA Piper LLP issued the following announcement on Feb. 19.
For the second consecutive year, DLA Piper was the only firm to rank as one of the top five most active law firms for private equity, venture capital and M&A deal volume in PitchBook's 2018 global league tables report.
The firm ranked second globally in PitchBook's list of most active private equity firms, with 243 deals, compared to 236 deals in 2017, and second in the US, with 129 US-based private equity deals, compared to 119 in 2017.
The firm was recognized in the top five of several industry sector rankings within private equity, including:
#2 in business-to-business
#2 in business-to-consumer
#2 in IT
#4 in healthcare
The firm also ranked second in M&A deal volume in PitchBook's report, with 431 reported deals, including 183 in the US.
DLA Piper ranked fifth among venture capital firms, with 453 deals, up from 388 in 2017. Of those deals, 369 were based in the US.
DLA Piper was recognized in the top five for its venture capital work in the following industry sectors:

#3 in IT hardware
#3 in pharma and biotech
#3 in healthcare services & systems
