BUTLER SNOW: Scott K. Field to Speak at The University of Texas School of Law’s Conference

Butler Snow is pleased to announce Scott K. Field will speak at The University of Texas School of Law’s 32nd Annual Technology Law Conference. The conference will be held May 23-24 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, Texas.

Scott will participate in a panel discussion titled “The Texas Citizen’s Participation Act (TCPA): Still ‘Crazy’ After All These (Seven) Years” on May 24. The panelists will discuss the background of the TCPA, review recent case law developments in both state and federal courts and consider the TCPA’s impact on commercial litigation in the future.

Scott is a member of the firm’s litigation department and primarily practices within the appellate and written advocacy and commercial litigation groups. Prior to joining the firm, he served a six-year term as Justice of the Texas Court of Appeals, Third District. Scott also has experience from private practice where he handled all levels of trial and appellate matters in federal and state courts, representing individuals and institutions in a variety of commercial litigation matters, including contract and insurance disputes and suits relating to employee welfare benefit plans under ERISA. He now uses his experience as a judge and as an appellate and trial attorney in advising clients from the outset of litigation through the conclusion of the appellate process.

Scott is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Bar Association, the Robert W. Calvert American Inn of Court, the Federalist Society and the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society. He serves on the board of directors for the Texas Aggie Bar Association and is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Austin Bar Foundation. Scott received his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Texas A&M University and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law.
