Greenberg Traurig LLP issued the following announcement on May 16.

The Houston office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues the expansion of its corporate, finance and private equity capabilities with the addition of corporate finance attorney Steven Rubin. He joins Greenberg Traurig’s Corporate Practice as an of counsel.

Rubin’s arrival will aid in expanding the Houston office’s Corporate Practice in matters involving mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, tender offers, proxy contests, restructuring, public and private equity and debt financings, and other international and domestic transactions, including transactions in Latin America. His practice will focus on transactions in numerous industries, including health care, energy, telecom, consumer products, insurance, financial services, restaurants and manufacturing.

“Having an attorney with Steven’s experience not only complements the expertise of our growing corporate group, but his extensive knowledge in the acquisition and transactional space will strengthen how we serve our private equity and corporate clients,” said Kent Newsome, Greenberg Traurig’s Co-Managing Shareholder of the Houston office and Chair of the firm's Texas Real Estate Practice.

Earlier in his career, Rubin was a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he first started practicing law over 30 years ago, working in that firm’s New York and Houston offices. He previously practiced with Greenberg Traurig Houston Corporate Shareholder Carlos Treistman when they were both partners at King & Spalding. Treistman joined Greenberg Traurig in February.
