LOCKE LORD LLP: Locke Lord Austin Partner Susan Kidwell Honored as 2019 Pro Bono Attorney by Travis County Women Lawyers' Association

Locke Lord issued the following announcement on May 22.

Locke Lord Austin Partner Susan Kidwell is the 2019 recipient of the Pro Bono Attorney Award from the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association and Foundation (TCWLA/F)‎. Attorney award honorees are nominated by their peers and selected based on their contributions to the legal profession, their service to the local community and the positive atmosphere they create in the workplace. As Past President of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas (VLS), Kidwell is a passionate advocate for pro bono work to promote social justice.

During her term as President, Kidwell was instrumental in the formation of a strategic plan for VLS to further the organization’s mission of providing volunteer attorneys and legal services to low-income clients. She is currently a member of the VLS Board of Directors and regularly takes on pro bono family law cases. She has also handled numerous pro bono appeals throughout her career.

Kidwell was recognized for her pro bono work at the TCWLA/F Annual Grants and Awards Luncheon on May 17. Austin Partner Cynthia Bast is a previous recipient of the Pro Bono Attorney Award from TCWLA/F‎.

‎A member of Locke Lord’s Appellate Practice Group, Kidwell has represented clients in a variety of complex appellate matters, including cases she has argued before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits, the Supreme Court of Texas, the Supreme Court of Tennessee and intermediate appellate courts in Texas and California. Although her appellate practice is broad, she has particular experience in matters involving arbitration, administrative law, statutory construction, insurance/contract construction, mortgage litigation and personal jurisdiction. Recognized in Texas Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in appellate law, Kidwell is Board Certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
