Frisco consumer alleges Medical City Dallas violated debt collection laws

SHERMAN — A Frisco woman is suing a debt collection agency, alleging violation of debt collection laws.

Romana Rizvi filed a complaint June 25 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against NPAS Inc., Medical City Dallas Hospital Inc., doing business as Medical City Dallas, alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Acta and the Texas Debt Collection Act.

According to the complaint, Rizvi began to receive demands for payment by June 6 from Medical City Dallas. The suit alleges the collection letter, however, left out a great deal of information about the creditor to whom the debt was owed.

The plaintiff says the defendant falsely stated that it was not a debt collector but continued to seek payment from the plaintiff.

Rizvi seeks trial by jury, statutory damages of $1,000, actual and injunctive relief, attorney fees, litigation expenses and costs and all other proper relief. She is represented by attorney Shawn Jaffer of Shawn Jaffer Law Firm PLLC in Frisco.
