245

Jackson Lewis LLP issued the following announcement on July 30.

Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, recently celebrated Pride month through a variety of firm-wide initiatives, including a fundraiser with The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.

“Our 2019 Pride efforts focused on education, understanding and solidarity for and with the LGBTQ community,” said Jana Simon, Jackson Lewis’ Director of Diversity & Inclusion. “Our original goal was to raise $25,000 to underwrite the training of a full TrevorLifeline class, The Trevor Project’s long-running crisis intervention phone line. I am so pleased to say that we more than doubled our goal and raised more than $55,000 to support this essential organization.”

“We asked each of our offices not only to determine a creative way to raise money, but also to engage with their local communities on Pride events and activities,” continued Simon. “Through office initiatives and events including marching in their local city’s Pride Parade, volunteering at local organizations serving the LGBTQ community, and speaking on legal matters impacting the LGBTQ community, every one of our locations stepped up in a significant way.”

"Thank you to Jackson Lewis for showing LGBTQ young people in dozens of their local communities that they are valued, respected, and never alone," said Muneer Panjwani,Head of Corporate Development for The Trevor Project. "With their support, The Trevor Project is able to continue training new crisis counselors to directly serve even more LGBTQ youth in crisis across the country."

“Jackson Lewis has a rich history of giving back, and we were honored to use this firm-wide charitable mentality to build a strong foundation for ongoing conversation and education around issues facing the LGBTQ community,” said Firm Co-Chairs William J. Anthony and Kevin G. Lauri. “Pride month exemplified what Jackson Lewis attorneys and staff can accomplish when we join together.”
