Stonecutter blames Genesis Granite Countertops for work-related injury

File000921513512

HOUSTON — A stonecutter is suing his employer, alleging he was injured due to a negligently maintained worksite.

Rigoverto Reyes filed a complaint Aug. 21 in Harris County District Court against Juan Carlos Reyes Bautista, individually and doing business as Genesis Granite Countertops, Nancy Sanchez, individually and doing business as Genesis Granite Countertops, Geneiss Granite Inc., Dimension Homes Inc., and Dimension Builders Inc., Dimension Builders Inc., doing business as Dimension Homes and doing business as Dimension Custom Homes, alleging negligence

According to the complaint, Reyes was employed by Genesis as a stonecutter and salesperson Dec. 11, 2018. The plaintiff said he was retrieving stone slabs that were leaning against a makeshift table and while he was moving the slabs the table collapsed, causing a heavy slab to fall on him.

Reyes alleges he sustained severe injuries to his leg, and experienced muscle and joint pain, requiring extensive medical treatment.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants were negligent in their responsibility to ensure that Reyes was kept safe in his employment and that the proper procedures and practices were enacted to protect employees from harm.

Reyes seeks damages, interest, court costs, all just relief and attorney fees. He is represented by attorneys Kara L. Kellogg and Anna J. McMullen of The Amaro Law Firm in Houston.
