HOUSTON — A nurse is suing a Bellaire hospital, alleging she injured her back while on the job.

Seketa Johnson filed a complaint Aug. 21 in Harris County District Court against CHG Hospital Bellaire LLC, alleging gross negligence.

According to the complaint, Johnson was training as a nurse at GHG Hospital Bellaire. The suit says while working to move a patient up on a bed, Johnson was left to pull the majority of the patient's weight, which caused her to experience a pop in her spine.

The plaintiff alleges she reported her injury to the hospital and was advised not to lift more than 10 pounds. Johnson says she reinjured herself when she had to move quickly to prevent another patient from falling.

The plaintiff alleges is still suffering from back pain and has been unable to do the work she previously performed. The suit states the hospital failed to provide a safe workplace and failed to provide adequate training.

Johnson seeks more than $1 million, trial by jury, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just relief. She is represented by attorney Cesar Tavares of Williams, Kherkher, Hart, Boundas LLP in Houston.
