LOMBARD — A Tyler man is claiming that a debt collection service hired by Verizon to collect on his unpaid bill continues to receive calls on his cell phone in violation of the federal law.

Larron Singleton filed a compliant Nov. 8 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Diversified Consultants, Inc alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the suit, Singleton began to receive calls from Diversified in an effort to collect $288.16 that he owed Verizon. He claims the calls persisted despite him asking the defendant to stop calling. He also claims he never received anything in writing from the defendant regarding his debt.

Singleton seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, and injunction against Diversified and all other just relief. He is represented by Joseph Davidson and Mohammed Badwan of The Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
