McGuireWoods LLP issued the following announcement on Dec. 9.

McGuireWoods Richmond associate Elizabeth Redpath is a finalist for the Business Equality Network’s BEQ Pride 40 LGBTQ Leaders Under 40 list. The recognition is reserved for “young movers and shakers in the LGBTQ community … who have demonstrated their exceptional leadership capabilities and major contributions in government, corporate, academia, non-profit or small business.”

Redpath represents clients in labor and employment matters and counsels businesses on policies to prevent workplace discrimination. She has dedicated her career to advocating for equal rights and combating discrimination against the LGBTQ community.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Redpath was a U.S. Department of Justice trial lawyer and part of a group that advised Civil Rights Division leaders on legal and policy issues regarding discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex and HIV/AIDS status.

She is vice president and president-elect of the Virginia Equality Bar Association and provides pro bono legal counsel at clinics for LGBTQ individuals making name and gender marker changes. She was a finalist for Chambers and Partners’ 2019 Diversity & Inclusion Awards USA in the Future Leader – LGBT+ Equality category.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Business Equality Network, and to work at a firm that values diversity and inclusion as one of its core tenets,” said Redpath.

“Liz uses her experience and insight to help businesses better understand that the more inclusive they are, the stronger they are,” said Los Angeles partner Sabrina Beldner, chair of the firm’s LGBTQ Lawyer Network. “McGuireWoods is proud she is receiving this recognition for her work and community service.”
