HOUSTON — A woman who fell through the floor board in her Harris County Townhome and suffered injuries is claiming negligence.

Destini Teas filed a complaint Feb. 11 in Harris County District Court against Presence Housing B LLC alleging negligence.

Teas was walking inside her townhome located in Harris County on Oct. 6, 2020, when she stepped on board and fell through the flooring and suffered serious injuries, according to her complaint. She alleges that she had reported the unsecured flooring board to the defendant but that it "had been allowed to remain on the surface" in her townhome "for a long period of time." Teas further alleges her injuries were so severe that she remains disabled and requires medical treatment. She claims the defendant breached its duty of ordinary care and allowed the unsecured board to remain which posed "an unreasonable risk of harm." Teas further claims the defendant controlled, serviced and maintained the premises and should have taken "corrective action in a timely manner."

Teas seeks monetary relief of less than $250,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Attorney Donald DeSimone in Houston.
