Husch Blackwell LLP recently issued the following announcement.
Dr. Richard D. Pineda, Director of the Sam Donaldson Center for Communication Studies at the University of Texas at El Paso will discuss the impact of language proficiency on access to and participation in both business and legal sectors in the United States.
News outlets in Texas and beyond regularly call upon Dr. Pineda to analyze changes in the political landscape. His research has appeared in a number of communication journals, including Text and Performance Quarterly, Argumentation and Advocacy, and the Free Speech Yearbook. His research and teaching focuses on politics, leadership, media, popular culture and Latinidad.
As we seek to expand our reach and impact in our surrounding communities, Dr. Pineda brings an engaging and fresh perspective to the conversation about language proficiency.
Moderating the program will be Associate Caitlin Jolley, a commercial litigator in our Houston office, whose love of language led her to pursue a law degree after working in microfinance lending with indigenous communities in Latin America.
