Mayer Brown issued the following announcement on Oct. 20.
Mayer Brown announced that Washington DC Banking & Finance partner Gabriela Sakamoto and Houston Corporate & Securities partner Rebecca Seidl were named to Latinvex’s 2021 list of “Latin America’s Top 100 Female Lawyers.” The ranking highlights top women lawyers who focus their practices in Latin America. This marks the second consecutive year that Ms. Sakamoto and Ms. Seidl have been named to the list.
Ms. Sakamoto, a member of the firm’s Latin America & Caribbean and Global Projects groups, advises sponsors, commercial banks, multilateral agencies and other financial institutions on cross-border project finance, structured finance, capital markets and acquisition financing transactions across a wide range of sectors, including energy and infrastructure, and to bank and non-bank financial institutions.
A member of Mayer Brown’s Global Energy and Project & Infrastructure groups, Ms. Seidl focuses on advising global energy companies, both in the United States and Latin America. She has a broad transactional-based energy practice, with specialized experience representing clients in M&A and strategic investments across the energy sector. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Seidl served as senior in-house counsel at BHP, residing in Santiago, Chile. During her tenure, she oversaw legal support for major infrastructure projects in the Americas.
Lawyers were selected based on a combination of factors, including recent track record on major deals and business, the prominence of their law firms in Latin America, and rankings, and recognition from third parties such as Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500 and M&A data from Refinitiv.
