AUSTIN—The State Bar of Texas Law Related Education Department and Law Focused Education, Inc. have received a $25,000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to help fund their newest project, Legal Beagle, a children’s book, a press release states.

Law Focused Education, Inc. and the State Bar of Texas Law Focused Education Committee are working together to create the book to help educate elementary students about the role of lawyers and the legal profession by explaining what attorneys do.

Legal Beagle, the main character, along with his fellow canine friends and pet guardians, will explore what it takes to become an attorney, including attending law school. Additionally, the book will explore different types of attorney practices.

The book will be available in print, electronic, and audio versions in both English and Spanish accessible through the www.texaslre.org site.

When asked to present to elementary students, attorneys could read the book to a class and answer questions from students about their profession. Also, the book can be sent to Texas courthouses that have children’s libraries.

Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $24 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation’s largest charitably funded bar foundation.
