Shook Encourages Conversations Following Buffalo Tragedy

Law

“Iam convinced that men hate each other because they fear each other. They fear each other because they don’t know each other, and they don’t know each other because they don’t communicate with each other, and they don’t communicate with each other because they are separated from each other.” — Martin Luther King Jr.

The recent tragedy in Buffalo has been reported as a targeted violence against African Americans. Unfortunately, racial hatred such as this still exists and we at Shook condemn this violence and the hate that motivates it with one voice of love, of humanity and for a better future. We wish to see a future where people can go about their everyday lives without the fear of being gunned down due to the color of their skin, religious beliefs or nationality. Let’s take the time to start the conversation of hope and love for all mankind with the next generation. That conversation begins in our homes and workplaces.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families who have lost love ones due to such a senseless crime. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stated, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” — Shook’s Black Employee Resource Group (ERG)
