Caron Byrd, an Associate in Locke Lord’s Affordable Housing Practice Group based in the Firm’s Austin office, has been selected as a 2022-2023 Fellow of the National Bar Association’s (NBA) Associate Advancement Academy for Excellence. Byrd is one of only 20 Fellows chosen for the initiative, which is designed to help Black associates in large law firms advance their careers. She and other Fellows will meet throughout the year, taking part in courses on the anatomy of a Big Law firm, navigating a law firm, working with firm professionals, the art of business development, learning a client’s business and building a personal brand both internally and externally. The Academy also offers monthly educational and networking sessions, check-ins with mentors and a range of NBA events.
Byrd concentrates her practice on affordable housing and real estate transactions. Previously, she represented the Alabama Housing Finance Authority on matters related to its housing tax credit and HOME programs. Byrd also has experience representing national and local developers, sponsors and investors in acquisition, financing, development, leasing and disposition of real estate.
