Holland & Knight has bolstered its leading Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group with the addition of energy attorney Paul Monsour as a partner in Houston. Mr. Monsour represents public and private companies in securities regulation and corporate matters. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, he was counsel with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

Mr. Monsour guides clients through securities regulation, capital markets transactions, corporate governance matters, mergers and acquisitions and other general corporate issues. He has a deep understanding of the intersection between securities law disclosures and financial reporting and is particularly experienced with the disclosure and reporting requirements specific to oil and gas companies. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Monsour maintains an active certified public accountant (CPA) license.

Mr. Monsour is the fifth energy partner to join Holland & Knight's Houston office since October, following Nancy Bostic from Gray Reed and Ram Sunkara, Joshua Belcher and Ronnie Dabbasi, all from Eversheds Sutherland.

"As we continue to expand our energy practice footprint in Texas, Paul's legal acumen combined with his strong background in accounting will be of great value to our clients across the globe," said Jeremiah Mayfield, practice group leader for the Texas region of Holland & Knight's Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group. "In addition, his experience with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is an added plus for clients navigating securities law and financial reporting requirements, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our firm."

Prior to joining Akin Gump, Mr. Monsour served as an attorney-advisor in the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance. He also served as a senior staff accountant in the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance. Before joining the SEC, Mr. Monsour was an auditor for two of the Big Four accounting firms.

"Holland & Knight is a well-established leader in energy law and has an equally distinguished corporate practice, making it the perfect fit for my practice," Mr. Monsour said. "I am excited to join a vibrant and growing firm that encourages teamwork and business development, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues in Texas and beyond."

Mr. Monsour received a J.D. degree from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and two B.S. degrees from Louisiana State University.
