Ukraine Conflict Response Practice Chair Andrew Pidgirsky will moderate a webinar, titled “Under Pressure: Evolving Legal Landscape of the Russia-Ukraine Conflict,” on November 2 at 12:00 p.m. ET. He will be joined by speakers Jane C. Luxton, Justin Carl Pfeiffer, Rafael X. Zahralddin, Thomas A. Brooks, Michael Gnesin, and Anastasiya Menshikova, who will present the following topics:

Since the conflict in Ukraine began one year ago, the imposition of trade restrictions on Russia has generated a host of complex issues for businesses operating in the United States and abroad. This webinar will cover time-critical questions that American companies are facing, including mergers & acquisitions, dispute resolution, insurance matters, asset seizures and forfeitures, financing and payment issues, force majeure provisions in contracts, compliance with trade sanctions (including secondary sanctions), asset nationalization and bilateral investment treaties.

This 75-minute session is a must-attend virtual presentation for companies in healthcare, manufacturing, aerospace, food, insurance, financial services, shipping, logistics, transportation, energy, chemicals, and other industries, and their legal counsel.

Mr. Pidgirsky is a vice-chair of the Corporate Practice, and chair of the firm's Ukraine Conflict Response team. He has been practicing law since 1990 and has extensive experience in the areas of energy, transactions, finance, technology and international law. His clients include public corporations, international companies and start-up enterprises. Andrew has represented United States companies on legal matters in over 50 foreign jurisdictions.

Ms. Luxton is co-chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Government Investigations & White Collar Defense Practice, chair of the Environment, Land, & Natural Resources Law Practice, chair of the Administrative Law & Regulatory Practice, chair of the PFAS Practice, co-chair of the Sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Practice, and vice-chair of the Consumer Financial Services Practice. With extensive experience in environmental as well as other federal regulatory, policy, and litigation matters, she advises businesses, associations, and coalitions in navigating all levels of the federal regulatory process, including appellate advocacy.

Mr. Pfeiffer is a member of the Labor & Employment and Appellate Practices. He offers clients extensive experience in litigating complex constitutional, civil rights, commercial, administrative, criminal matters in federal and state courts throughout the country. His substantive federal experience includes the following areas of law: securities, constitutional, civil rights, environmental and land use, administrative, patent, copyright, federal criminal, federal death penalty, habeas and death penalty, employment, immigration, bankruptcy, and civil and criminal procedure.

Mr. Zahralddin is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ Corporate, Bankruptcy, Complex Business & Commercial Litigation, Digital Asset, and Ukraine Conflict Response Practices. He is a skilled business lawyer and litigator with significant experience advising clients in corporate and commercial litigation, insolvency, distressed M&A, compliance, corporate law and entity formation, corporate governance, commercial transactions, cyber law, regulatory actions, and cross-border issues. He is a contributing editor for the ABA's Business Law Today.

Mr. Brooks is chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Bank Default Response Team and a member of its Banking & Finance, Corporate, Commercial Lending, and Securities & Corporate Finance Practices. With more than 30 years of experience, he has represented a variety of commercial banks, thrift institutions, online lenders, fintech entities, money services businesses, consumer finance lenders, and financial services trade associations. Mr. Brooks formerly served as general counsel of the FDIC, and prior to that as general counsel of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

Mr. Gnesin is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ Corporate and Securities & Corporate Finance Practices. He has more than a decade of experience advising individual and corporate clients in hundreds of commercial transactions of all sizes. He is a dedicated leader with a proven track record of analyzing complex deals, identifying relevant policies and precedents, and making personal and professional recommendations to inform merger and acquisition strategy in compliance with local, state, and federal mandates.

Ms. Menshikova is a member of the Complex Business & Commercial Litigation and Government Investigations & White Collar Defense Practices. She has experience defending consumer class actions and litigating complex commercial matters, including unfair business competition, false advertising, and product liability. She has represented several consumer goods manufacturers and retailers in false advertising and mislabeling class action lawsuits.
