HOUSTON – Motorists have filed a negligence lawsuit against an auto dealership after they were allegedly rear-ended by one of the dealership's employees during an auto collision on I-45.
Plaintiffs Jayelen Myles Lewis and Joseph Lewis, as next friend of minors A.L. and A.L., filed the lawsuit in the Harris County District Court against Sewell Automotive Companies, Inc. and Donald Rey Erwin, citing allegations of negligence.
According to the lawsuit, on July 11, 2022, the plaintiffs were traveling on I-45 when their vehicle was suddenly and without warning struck from behind by defendant Erwin, who was driving a vehicle on behalf of Sewell Automotive Companies. The plaintiffs allege that they were severely injured in the auto collision.
The plaintiffs allege that Erwin negligently failed to operate his vehicle in a safe manner to protect the safety of other drivers and that Sewell is vicariously liable for the negligence of its employee.
The plaintiffs claim that as a result of the defendants' negligence, they have sustained bodily injuries, which have caused them to experience pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, lost wages, out-of-pocket economic losses, and that their injuries will impact their ability to earn income. They add that they have incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover from her injuries.
The plaintiffs are seeking a judgment for damages plus interest, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. They are represented in this case by attorneys Taylor P. Franks and Matthew C. Stano of The Stano Law Firm in Humble.
