Reed Smith office managing partner Omar Alaniz is being featured in D CEO magazine’s 2024 edition of the Dallas 500, the publisher’s annual list of the most significant and influential business leaders in North Texas.
Alaniz represents distressed companies in out-of-court workouts and chapter 11 restructurings and regularly advises boards of directors in developing liability management solutions. He was selected for recognition in the Professional Services category.
Regarding Reed Smith’s pro bono efforts, Alaniz said he is most proud of the firm’s work regarding a death row inmate whose execution has been stayed nine times following a 343-page Reed Smith report that raised significant concerns about the conviction, as well as recommendations for improving Oklahoma’s death penalty system.
Speaking of diversity and inclusion, Alaniz said, “I wish the legal profession was more inclusive of diverse talent, but lack of inclusion in sophisticated projects will stunt anyone’s growth. Diverse lawyers have historically suffered from lack of inclusion.”
