Blanton Snodgrass ’50 made a generous gift to South Texas College of Law Houston through a planned gift. He passed away May 21, 2023, at 99 years old. Mr. Snodgrass requested that this gift be used to establish a scholarship in his name and in memory of his daughter, Deborah M. Snodgrass.

A native Houstonian, Snodgrass attended Texas A&M and the University of Houston before earning his law degree from South Texas Law. He specialized in oil, gas, and land law, representing both major and independent producers, along with geologists assembling their own drilling prospects.

Snodgrass served in World War II as a combat infantryman, participating in four amphibious assaults. After retirement he enjoyed spending time at his resort home in Key Allegro and at his ranch in Hallettsville.

He traveled with his wife on many adventures, spent time with friends and family, and watched every sports game he could.

Legacy gifts to South Texas College of Law Houston are vital to the long-term success and growth of the law school. Darcy Douglas, vice president of Advancement said, “We are incredibly grateful for this wonderful gift and for Mr. Snodgrass’s thoughtful planning. It is our honor to ensure his wishes are carried out and his legacy continues here at the law school. So many future students will benefit from his generosity.”

The Fred Parks Legacy Society at South Texas Law pays tribute to those who include South Texas Law in their estate plans. It is named in honor of the law school’s late 1937 alumnus and Texas legal legend Fred Parks. Through his estate, Parks left the largest planned gift in the school’s 100-year history and provided the critical resources for the construction of The Fred Parks Law Library.

The society honor donors who have made a planned gift and continue Mr. Parks’ tradition of investing in South Texas. Benefits include an invitation to an annual appreciation reception, recognition in the annual donor report and on the Fred Parks Legacy Society donor wall, a membership gift, a lapel pin, and access to exclusive content and events.
