AUSTIN - The Liberty Justice Center has received copies of the indictments charging two Texas school administrators with illegal election interference.
Attorney General Ken Paxton has recently filed multiple lawsuits against Texas school districts for alleged illegal electioneering, including the Denton Independent School District.
On Feb. 27, LJC sent a demand letter to the Denton County DA urging the DA to investigate illegal election interference by school officials. The letter, which included affidavits by registered voters in Denton County, triggered an investigation to hold school administrators accountable for using public resources to advance a personal political goal.
Director of Special Programs Lindsay Lujan and Principal Jesus Lujan were indicted for using their school email addresses to distribute political advertising on April 2.
“We are proud to help Texans exercise their right under the Texas Election Code to hold government officials accountable for using taxpayer resources to sway elections,” said Dean McGee, educational freedom attorney at LJC. “The DA’s actions are a win for all of the Denton voters who came forward to ensure that corruption was not swept under the rug.”
After LJC sent a letter on behalf of Denton County voters, Texans from other districts reached out with affidavits attesting to corruption in their own districts. The Liberty Justice Center has since issued a letter on behalf of Harris County voters.
