McGuireWoods lawyers secured the dismissal of indictments against the executives of Texas Star Pharmacy, a compounding pharmacy located in Plano, Texas.

U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan issued an Aug. 29, 2024, order granting the federal government’s motion to dismiss the charges against Prasenjit Bhaumik and Raman Bhaumik, executives of Texas Star Pharmacy. The Bhaumiks were indicted in the Eastern District of Texas in February 2024, in United States v. Shelton, et al, 24-cr-00027, EDTX.

McGuireWoods Dallas partners Mindy Sauter and Michael Elliott began representing the Bhaumiks in May 2024. In meetings and discussions with federal prosecutors, they presented evidence contrary to the charged conduct to the government. The government then asked the court to dismiss the indictments against the Bhaumiks in the interest of justice.

“We are pleased the government reviewed the evidence presented and agreed to dismiss the indictments,” Sauter said. “With justice served, the Bhaumiks can continue serving their community.”

In a joint statement, the Bhaumiks said: “We are grateful to Mindy Sauter, Michael Elliott and McGuireWoods for securing dismissal of these charges and enabling us to continue providing personalized care to our patients.”
