Soña Ramirez and Adam Boland recently joined Steptoe & Johnson PLLC’s San Antonio office in the firm’s Labor & Employment Department. Ramirez is a Member at the firm, and Boland is an Of Counsel. Both have extensive experience in advising, representing, and defending clients on a plethora of employment-related issues.

Ramirez has over 20 years of experience in defending companies in discrimination/retaliation administrative charges and lawsuits, workers’ compensation retaliation lawsuits, governmental investigation and audits, unemployment hearings, wage and hour disputes, and trade secret and non-compete litigation. Ramirez is affluent in preparing and negotiating various types of employment agreements, prepares handbooks and policies for multi-state employers in highly regulated industries, and conducts in-house employment training for human resources departments, managers and supervisors, and employees.
Boland has over 15 years of experience defending employers in both state and federal court cases involving employee theft of trade secrets, noncompete agreements, defamation, fraud, business interference and violation of fiduciary duties by an employee to their employer. Boland is a trustworthy advisor, who counsels employers on litigation avoidance, wage and hour laws, leaves of absence, employee discipline, hiring and termination issues, privacy claims, reductions in force, and other issues arising in the human resources context.
Ramirez earned her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University. Boland earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and bachelor’s degree from McMurry University. They are both licensed to practice in Texas.
