Baylor Law School students recently put their transactional skills to the test in this year’s Transactional Practice Lab Competition, where they drafted, negotiated, and finalized a complex asset purchase agreement. This year’s competition focused on negotiating a contract between a private equity firm, Envision Partners LP, and a publicly traded telecommunications company, ConGlomTel, Inc.

During the competition, students tackled challenges they might find while structuring a complex deal in actual practice, analyzing due diligence findings, drafting and redlining key contract provisions, and engaging in simulated negotiations to advocate for their client’s interests in a high-stakes business transaction.

Each representing one side of the deal, finalists Paul Gunderson (ConGlomTel, Inc.) and Jared Miller (Envision Partners LP) skillfully negotiated key terms of the transaction and demonstrated key skills necessary for success in transactional law.

Through opportunities like the Transactional Competition, Baylor Law School continues to equip future attorneys with the essential skills needed to excel in corporate law and business transactions.
